Ever wonder why some people seem to smash goal after goal, while others are simply all talk?

That’s because there are two different types of people in this world: dreamers and achievers. But what makes them different? What does the achiever do that the dreamer doesn’t?  Let’s go through those things together.

ACHIEVERS DON’T MAKE PLANS.

Believe it or not, constructing a perfect and well-thought-out plan before you take on a new project or entrepreneurial venture in your life is a form of procrastination. Why? Because it is almost guaranteed that within a week of acting upon that plan that you so carefully constructed, it will fall apart. And achievers know that.

If you take action first, the chances that you make mistakes are higher. However, taking action as soon as possible allows you to save time, which is invaluable in business. With time being the scarcest resource out there, achievers can’t afford to lose it on tasks that don’t move the needle, such as excessive planning.

This brings us to our next differentiator between a dreamer and an achiever…

ACHIEVERS TAKE MASSIVE AND MESSY ACTION.

Taking action and making decisions allows achievers to move quickly and make significant progress. Even if achievers make mistakes along the way, the lessons they learn and the growth they experience from following this path over the one planned by dreamers will allow them to reach levels of success that dreamers could never achieve… Or at least, not as quickly as achievers can.

ACHIEVERS SURROUND THEMSELVES WITH LIKE-MINDED PEOPLE.

Achievers understand how crucial it is to surround themselves with people who are either in a position they want to be in or are on the same journey as them.

Plus, achievers see the value in setting up an accountability system. By finding like-minded people who can keep them accountable to their goals, they are put in a position where it is easier (but not easy, to be clear) to stay focused on what it is they want to achieve.

ACHIEVERS KNOW WHAT THEIR NON-NEGOTIABLES ARE.

While the path to get to where they are going may not be as clear, the end goal is extremely clear to them. Achievers are willing and ready to take whichever road brings them toward their goals. In other words, they’re flexible about how they get there but inflexible about what the results are.

If you recognize yourself in this article as a dreamer, but want to be an achiever, you can change that. After all, self-awareness and recognizing that you have work to do is the first step you can take towards becoming a better, more successful version of yourself.
